Oh how time flies! Eleven years ago today, I married one of the best men God put on this earth! He is a loving, caring, easy-going, and hard working man that sees the good in every situation. It doesn't seem like it's been eleven years of marriage but when I look at our three sons, I know some time has to have pasted.

Jay and I have really been together for almost eighteen years! I know what you're thinking, almost two decades! Yea, that long! But it doesn't see like it to me. I've enjoyed all my time with him and I so look forward to many more years of love together!

It has been so quiet here at my house today. My husband decided to go visit his parents and my mom today 2.5 hours away. And you know the best part . . . . . he took all three of the kids!

Two Terrific Kids

Two of my sons were awarded as Terrific Kids by the Guilford College Kiwanis Club this mourning at their school. Both were recognized for their respectfulness to other. My oldest has been awarded every year since kindergarten and this was my middle son's ,who is in kindergarten this year, first time getting an award, so he was all smiles!

I am a proud momma!

The End of Summer Break

Well, it is that time of year again. When parents drop off their little love ones and do burnouts in the parking lot. BACK TO SCHOOL TIME! Today was the first day of school for my two oldest boys. The oldest started third grade and my middle son started Kindergarten. I hope he doesn't do like he did in Preschool. The boy cried everyday for six weeks, really!

New Things in My Life

I know I haven't posted in awhile, but I have been so busy with a under cover project. After all these years of dating, marriage, and kids, we are finally purchasing our first home! Everything just happened so fast!

We found the house online the second week in March and now we are about to close this week. The house needs a little extra love, but we are up to the challenge. I don't want to post photos just yet, but as soon I as we close I will.

Yesterday was my husband's birthday. We spend the day all together as a family. The kids sang the Happy Birthday song about five times. I made him his favorite flavor cake LEMON as the birthday cake and we went out for dinner. I also purchased him a NFL Carolina Panthers Snuggle for cool nights.

I know I have said this before, but I do have a wonderful husband! He works so hard and never complains, always has a positive attitude, and loves his family. What woman can complain about that? Not me!

Where Does The Time Go?

It is hard for me to believe that today is my baby's 2nd birthday! MY BABY IS TWO YEARS OLD!!! He had a good birthday I think. He got some Trio building blocks, some Disney Pixar Cars, and most important . . . a Potty!

I made him a yellow cake with chocolate icing, one of his favorites. I love my little Honey Bear no matter how bad, I mean interesting, the trouble two are going to be!!!!

For those of you out there who don't know what the Ravelympics are, it is when all of us knitters and crocheters on Ravelry knit our fingers sore during the Olympic Games. This time it's in Vancouver, Canada during Feb 12-28, 2010. The goal is 2 weeks of focused team challenge knitting while watching the actual Olympics unfold before our eyes.

I am part of Team Dizzy. GO TEAM!!

This is my first Ravelympics and I am so excited! I decided to make something for my mother after she called me to say she had just bought a hat to keep her head warm this winter. That made me feel like DIRT! Here I am a knitter and my mother is buying a noggin warmer!

She loved the Star Crossed Berets that I had made for myself and my sister, so naturally she wanted one too. So I am making that slouch hat and a matching cowl, inspired by the hat pattern, for her. I am using some of my Dream in Color Classy from the stash. Thou, my mother loves pink as much as I do, she wanted something different. I thought the Cloud Jungle would be a lovely color for these two projects.

I feel like I can complete these two projects over the next two weeks. On top of caring for my family.

Black Friday. . . A Good or Bad Thing?

I haven't decided if Black Friday is a good or bad thing yet. I know it is good to be able to purchase items at a discounted price and save some money, but come on! Who doesn't want to save money? The reason I ask if it is good or bad is because of my experience this morning during a Black Friday Doorbuster event.

For some crazy reason, I decided to go to Toy R Us of all stores to partake is some of the money saving deals. The store opened at 12 midnight and I arrived at 10:45 pm. Well, there was already a long line. There had to be more than 250 people in front of me. No lie! I looked at the line and said, Ok this won't be so bad!

Ya, right! In the time that I was standing in line, I saw 2 people get handcuffed by the cops, 1 person almost get tased by a female officer, and heard the most ungodly words used in the worst way! To make matters worst, after I picked up the 3 items I wanted, I stood in a line for 1 hour only to have a sale associate tell me and about 100+ other people this wasn't a real line to the checkout.

Let's just say that set it off! Oh, did I mention that I had 2 chics try to jump me in line after all this other crap had gone down. Let me just tell you the short story to that situation, the 2 chics ended up putting their things down and walking away with nothing after I confronted them!

I didn't leave Toy R Us until 2:15 am! I love my kids, but this was a first and last time experience with this toy store on Black Friday . . . that was all the bad! The good . . . I did end up saving $60 on my 3 item!

Happy Halloween 2009

Halloween has become a fun holiday for me, my husband, and the boys. The kids get really get excited about the costumes and of course the CANDY! Between the three of them, I know they collected about 4-6 lbs of candy! And we didn't even hit all the houses in our neighborhood with the lights on! Being Sick Sucks!

I have been so sick for the past two weeks with the flu! I am feeling better now, but this sore throat and cough will not seem to go away. I have coughed so much that my tongue hurts too! It has been a blessing the the kids are all health, but my husband wasn't so luck. He is recovering from the flu too!

Something New and Cute Too!

Now I will admit, that I am not great on my sewing machine. I have never even taking a sewing class. But, I am good at researching and following directions.

I have been seeing these little sewed box bags knitter use for small project and I wanted one too! So, I made it my mission to find a pattern to make me one! I thought to myself, it can't be that hard to make! Well, I found several tutorials online and the one I found here seemed right for me.

It only took me about 2.5 hours to sew and I think it looks great! Now, it does have flaws and they are bothering me. But this was my first attempt and I will do better next time.

My husband, as usual, just looked at me when I told him I was making a bag for small knitting projects. But as the bag started to form, he said, "Well, go ahead Martha Stewart! It looks good!"

And you know what. . . It does! Yes, that's right, I am tooting my own horn! I love it and I am already planning to make more!

Apples in Chinatown Pullover

Here is the Apples in Chinatown Pullover I am making for my youngest son. The pattern is really the Child’s Placket Neck Sweater. Here is the link. I had this pattern in my Ravelry queue for sometime and was inspired by Holli's Pullover . The yarn is Dream in Color Classy in Chinatown Apple. But I bet you already knew that!

Why didn't anyone tell me how wonderful this yarn is? I am in LOVE! The color in just amazing and the stitch definition in great! In one of my previous post, I stated that I purchased some Dream in Color from the Dizzy Sheep Labor Day Weekend Spinoff. This is my new favorite yarn and I just can't get enough of it!

Labor Day Weekend

I have to say that I didn't go anyway this weekend. But I had a good time. I did something for the first time this weekend. It was a mixture of lack of sleep, fun, excitement, craziness, laughs, and money spent!

I was in front of my computer all this weekend buying yarn! That's right, buying yarn!!! The Dizzy Sheep had it's Labor Day Weekend Spinoff! Over the past three days, I purchased six hanks of Dream in Color Classy - - four in Gothic Rose and two in Chinatown Apple. I got one hank of Dream in Color Baby in Cinnamon Girl and one hank of Smooshy in Bermuda Teal. It was exciting to get all this in just three crazy days.

I even slept on the sofa one night because I was afraid I would miss out on a deal! My husband needed to run to the store and I told him that he would have to bring the laptop with us if he wanted me to go to! Tell me that isn't just CRAZINESS!

I did get amazing deals and I am happy I lost sleep over it!

How Many Years Has It Been?

On August 12th nine years ago, Johnny and I got married. It's sometime hard to believe that it has been nine years already! Most of the time it doesn't feel like it has been that long, but once I look at our three sons, it becomes crystal clear that a number of years have gone by.

We spent our anniversary at the beach with our children. I will add those photos on an another post. We had a great time at the beach, until it started to rain and we had to grab all of our things and the kids and run to the car. Overall, a great day at the beach with the best kids in the world and a man I still love as much as I did before I married him.

Good Things:

This was the second time I have worked with Malabrigo. It is a great yarn with beautiful color and is very soft for wool. The pattern is simple, but with the wraps and turns, it doesn't get boring.

Bad Things:

Wraps and turns aren't my favorite thing to do and I did had a problem with the number of wraps I had at one end of the scarf compared to the other. But other than that. . . it was fun to knit.

Ugly Things:

Not much to say ugly about this pattern. I loved it!!

An Amazing Weekend!

This has been an amazing weekend for me for several different reasons:

First, Saturday was my 35th birthday and I am proud to say that! My sons have been counting down the days until my birthday. I think it was because they want it to be closer to their birthday. To bad that's not until September and December! HA..HA, they've got a long wait!!

My husband never knows what to get me, so he and the kids took me shopping for my birthday. I got 4 brand new bras and 2 night gowns. For all you ladies out there, you know buying bras and finding that one that fits like a soft leather glove is not easy! But I managed to find 4 and with girls the size of mine, they did not come cheap! He said he didn't know it was such a big deal buying bras, but now he understands. I also got my once a year special treat. . . my Carvel Ice Cream Cake! YUMMY!!!

Second, my husband managed to get the whole weekend off, Saturday and Sunday, and that is a rare thing! So, it was nice having him home with us. I don't know how he didn't get any phone calls from work, but he didn't. :) We never go out, but we did get a chance to watch a movie together on Sunday afternoon. We watched The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. What a wonderful movie! I did find it a little sad. I can't imagine watching everyone around me die and seeing my child's father turn into an infant! Just amazing!!

Third, Mother's Day! My oldest son, made me a gift at school and it was so cute. It was a magic wand that if I tapped him on his head 3 times, my wish for the day would come true. You know I tapped that little head several times yesterday!! Like I said, I watched a movie with the hubby. The kids kept the visits to Crazy Town, the crying, momma I need, he looked at me, you get the point, to a minimum. I got money from the boys for what else, YARN!!! OH, and did I mention that I did not cook or clean for two days!!!! :D

I wish for more days like these. Well, I can wish! I hope everyone had a weekend as great as mine and to all you mother's. . . Happy Mother's Day everyday!!!!

Knit Picks City Tweed Yarns

This is the newest yarn to my stash. It is Knit Picks City Tweed yarns. I purchased two of the double knit or dk weight in Tabby { the brown } and sixteen of the Porpoise { the blue-gray}. I also bought two of the heavy worsted or hw in Blue Blood { the reddish-maroon }. It is beautiful yarn and is very soft. The prices are great too!

New Tweed Yarn - - Oh, My!!

For all you tweed yarn lovers out there, guess what? There's a new tweed yarn coming to town! I just got my new Knit Picks April 2009 catalog in the mail and on the inside back cover was a wonderful surprise!

City Tweed is the new yarn that will be available late this month. Here is how it is described: "This yarn begins with alpaca and Merino fibers dyed two different colors and then blended together to make a subtly rich, lustrous heather. We chose neutral colored Donegal tweed nebs to incorporate into the 2-ply yarn. The high ratio of nebs give City Tweed a traditional appeal. The use of Merino and alpaca makes if soft and warm."

It says the DK weight will start at $3.99/50 gram ball and HW weight starting at $7.99/100 gram ball.

From the photo of the inside back cover, I am so excited about this yarn! :) I love tweed yarn but it can be expensive. This yarn reminds me of the look of the Rowan Felted Tweed. I can't wait to order some of this little bit of tweed heaven!

Fever, Ears, and Missed Day.

My baby had been struggling with a 103 temperature over the few days. It had been going up and down like a yo-yo, but just when I thought he was doing better. He wakes up with another hot head. I took him to the doctor today, only to find out that he has a double ear infection. The doctor prescribed some medication and hopefully it will clear up this ear infection. My poor little Honey Bear doesn't want to do anything but sit on my lap. So, let's just say the house chores are getting behind until he is better!

Well on to other news. What can I say. . . This is the second year in a row I have missed my Blogoversary! I knew it was coming up, but somehow I still managed to miss it. Maybe next year I will remember!

It has been an amazing year watching my baby grow up!

This year has really gone by so fast. I love the idea of him growing up to be a wonderfully strong young man one day, but I would be lying if I didn't say, how I will miss the days of holding my baby in my arms. He is becoming more and more independent everyday. I love you!

Losing Hair and Growing Up.

My baby isn't so much a baby anymore. Ryan turned 11 months on Sunday and he got his first haircut. I was laughing and about to cry at the same time. He look more like the other boys now. In my family it is normal to wait until the son is 1 year of age before the first haircut. Don't ask me why, because I have no idea. I only followed this unofficial rule for one of my sons. Here are some of photos of this major event. I won't miss wrestling with him or his hair, but I will miss the baby look of my son.

It Sucks Being Cold and Sick :(

It is sooooooooo cold here! The time right now is 3:13 pm and it is 25 degrees outside. I don't know how some people live in such cold weather, but GOD bless them! My oldest son caught a cold and now everyone in the house has one expect my husband. Either he is very lucky or is not spending enough time with his family? I'm not sure which.

I need to be cleaning up but for the life of me, I just can't do it! I feel like crap! I hope everyone else out there, especially those of you up north and upper Midwest, are keeping warm and avoiding cold germs!

An Interesting Saturday.

I have got to do better about finding time to blog. I miss it so! I had to drop in to share the scary situation I had to deal with this past Saturday. I have never had any problems with giving my oldest son candy. So when he asked for a piece of hard candy on Saturday, I told him "Yes, go ahead and get one piece, but sit down to eat it". Like I said, I have never had a problem with him eating hard candy, because he chews it up as soon as it hits his tongue.

He got the candy and started to walk toward the living room and I went back in the kitchen to wash some dishes. Meanwhile, my middle son is asleep on the sofa and the baby is on the floor in the living room playing with some toys. Jalen, the oldest with the candy, starts to choke in the living room. I stop washing the dishes and call his name. He is still choking and walking back towards the kitchen.

When he came around that corner, his eyes were full of water and he was holding his neck. I was so scared! I asked him if the candy went down his throat and he nodded his head "Yes". Now I am really scared, but I tried to stay calm. I turned him around and started to do the Heimlich Maneuver. After a few thrust to the abdomen, he went to the floor and the candy popped out! I was happy it worked!!

Do you know what that little joker said to me after I got that candy out of his throat? Momma, you hurt my stomach! I didn't know what to say to him. I wanted to laugh because I knew he was alright. But I just went in the bathroom, cried a little, and thanked God for being with me to stay calm and making sure Jalen was ok.

Thru all of this, Cameron didn't even wake up and Ryan was still on the floor having a good time with his toys. It has been years since I took a CPR class and learned the Heimlich Maneuver, but what I learned must have stuck with me all these years because it worked! My boys had a great time trick-or-treating this year! We had Optimus Prime, the Hulk, and a little cat. We walked for 2 hours and between the three boys, they collected a enough candy to fill a medium size shipping box! The baby is wearing the little cat hat that I knitted for him to wear tonight. It's Been Awhile.

I know it's been awhile since I have blogged, but I am still knitting. If you don't believe me, check me out at Ravelry . . . I'm dimples74. I have been busy with the family. My oldest son, Jalen, as some of you may know is in the first grade and it is nothing like when I was in school. This child comes home with all kind of worksheets and spelling words for the week that are due each night. I feel like I'm in school again!

Cameron, my middle child, is so ready for school. He is just about to drive us all crazy with the question, "I go to school now". And each morning, I have to break his little heart and tell him "No". Hopefully, he will get into preschool next year.

Ryan, the baby, is 7 months old now, getting a tooth, and trying to crawl. I almost cryed the other day when I saw him up on his knees. My baby is growing up too fast! Here is a picture of him and his brother Jalen I took a few weeks ago outside on the front lawn.

I know it has been a long time since I have checked in, but I am still alive and knitting! I want to especially check in today, because it is my 8th year wedding anniversary! People like to ask you on this special day if it feels like it has been that long. I always first say, "No". But then I look at how many kids I have and think, "Well, maybe it does seem like 8 years have pasted".

I am grateful to have a loving husband and wonderful man to call my kid's father. I can't imagine my life without him or the family we created. I love you, Honey!!!

My baby will be 4 months next week and he has started to suck on his fingers more. Well, my 5 year old, Jalen, walked over to the baby's swing and said to Ryan, "What you doing baby? You eatting a fist sandwich?"

I laughed so hard I fell out of the chair. Jalen didn't know I was watching him play with the baby. Those little questions made my evening and I hope they make someone else laugh as hard as I did!!

My Mother's Day Surprise.

I have to say, that it is rare that my boys can pull one over on me, but that is what they did on Mother's Day! My husband and the two older boys left the house for a few hours and said they would be back later. That was fine with me, it gave me a little break!!

When they returned, my husband had taken the boys to the Golden Arches for lunch and I saw him come in with the bag, but I didn't think anything of it. Him and the boys went straight for the kitchen to eat. Then my husband came in the dining room and put a old looking DVD player on the table and said," Happy Mother's Day!" I just looked at him. Then he went back in the kitchen.

Well, I looked at the DVD player and thought to myself, "What the devil is this? I didn't ask for a DVD player and what name brand is this thing anyway? Because I know my husband isn't going to purchase some off the wall brand. It didn't come with a box, instructions, or even a Mother's Day card? What is going on?"

Then to my surprise, the boys came around the corner with a bag in their hands, smiling, and said, " Happy Mother's Day". This is what was in the bag:

A brand new red SONY Cyber-shot Digital Camera. I was so shocked!!! I love my new camera and all four of my boys!

They also took me to Applebee's for dinner. Here is a shot of the four of them and a very happy me.

Well, today is my 34th birthday and so far it has been pretty good. It's great when your birthday falls on the weekend! And since my birthday is today and Mother's Day in Sunday, I decided to make the whole weekend extra special for me!

My family may say I'm on strike, but I really don't care! I'm doing nothing this weekend and that includes cooking, washing clothes, sweeping the floor, or washing children. My husband can do that!!!

The boys bought me my favorite, a CARVEL, ice cream cake for my birthday. I really don't have much self control when comes to this ice cream, so I only eat it once a year on my birthday. ;D

It seems like I have been working on the DROPS jacket forever, but it is coming long great. I have completed the back and am half way done with the front left. I don't know how I feel about the striping effect yet, but I do like the yarn ok.

I also started the Mossy Jacket for the baby a few days ago, because it is still a little cool. I will have to share the details of the project later. It is hard to type with the baby in my other arm! :)

I haven't knitted in almost 3 weeks and it is killing me! I just haven't had time! Either I'm busy with house duties or taking care of one of the kids. I know it will get better and I will develop some type of flow to having the new baby in our life.

I wanted to stop in to say, Happy Birthday to my husband Johnny! Today is his birthday and "Thank you for all your help over the past few months". He has been so helpful during my pregnancy and even after the baby arrived. I love you honey, keep up the good work!!!!!!

My Family has Grown by Two More Feet!

Leave My Body Please!

Let me just say that I am so tired of being pregnant!! This child has to leave my body soon! I haven't done anything for the past 2 days because I have been in such pain and discomfort.

My poor husband has been very understanding and is doing everything in his power to make me happy. And I love him so much for that! My boys have also been helpful to their round and helpless mom. Yesterday, my oldest son asked me if my tummy was full. I told him,"Yes"and his response was, "Well, you need to call the doctor so she can get the baby out." I totally agree!

My youngest son on the other hand likes to pull my shirt up and pat my tummy. Well yesterday, he decided that we needed to touch bare tummies to make me feel better. I was having a contractions at the time, but I had to laugh at his method of healing. I was in such horrible pain, but he is so cute and just wanted to show mommy some love!

Pray that this baby comes out soon! Because if not, I just may lose my mind!!!

A Date is Set.

I had my weekly doctor's appointment this past Wednesday to talk to my doctor about scheduling my C-section. Well, the date is set! If all goes as planned, Baby Boykin will arrive by C-section Thursday, March 6th at 12 noon.

This will be the first time I have had a baby during the daytime. The oldest came at 2:10 am and the youngest came at 1:29 am. But I have to say, that both of the other boys came early, so it is possible that Baby Boykin will do the same thing! These boys of mine have a mind of their own.

A Snowy Valentine's Day.

Today is also Valentine's Day and my husband asked me what do you want today to celebrate? I didn't have one idea! I really don't want or need anything. I can't have chocolate due to my gestational diabetes, so that's out and I have to watch everything I eat.

I have to say that I am happy knowing he and my boys love me so much! My husband spend most of his evening last night, painting my baby's nursery a calming shade of blue called SPA. I love it! He painted without complaining and didn't want me to help. I'd much rather have my husband show me love by doing little things like painting the baby's room, then buying me flowers that will die in a few days or a box of chocolate that I may only like three flavors out of. Now, that's love.

I also have to share this photos of the beautiful and unexpected snow we got last night. It was beautiful! My son didn't have school, so he was happy to be at home. We made a snowmand and had a snowball fit. My oldest son hit me right in the glasses with a huge snowball, let's just say they both got very tickled at that!

What a week I've had!!!

First, let me say "HAPPY NEW YEAR" to everyone. I can't believe this is my first blog of the new year. I have had a few things to happen over this past week and most of them have not been all that great!

Well, let's start with last Wednesday. I had to repeat that dumb 3 hour sugar test to find out if I had developed gestational diabetes. I got my results the next day and I didn't pass. So, now I have to take a nutrition and diabetic class on 1/10 to learn how to eat so many carbs per day to control my insulin levels and sticking my fingers several times a day. Oh, what fun that is going to be!!!

Something good did come out of that day. I had another ultrasound and the baby looks great. The doctor is guessing that he is about 3 pounds at this point and I have 10 more weeks to go! They always guess my babies are large and they have been wrong each time! Jalen was only 7 lbs and Cameron was only 2 lbs 11 ozs, but he was 11 weeks early.

Me and the boys had to take my brother to the airport to return to California on last Friday and we were pretty down about that. He had been here in North Carolina since Dec. 15th. My kids only get to see their Uncle Chip twice a year and they love him to death!! So, we all had the sad face as left him at the airport. Cameron, the youngest, said "Momma, you left Chip", and gave me the nastiest look. I told the boys he would be back to visit again, because he loves them and that the new baby was coming and Uncle Chip had to come back to see the baby. Let's just say once I said the word McDonald's those sad faces changed.

Well, yesterday I was going to pick my son up from school and I got pulled over by the police at a check point and got my very first ticket! I have to say it was my husband's fault! He is suppose to take care of the cars, the yard, and the trash. Well, he failed to get my car inspected and the sticker was out of date. That damn ticket is $145.00! Can you believe that? The crazy thing is that the same dumb officer tried to stop me again coming back from the school - -Jackass!

The newest knitting book to my knitting library: The Harmony Guides: Knit & Purl book. This book has the same amount of stitch designs as the Vogue Knitting Stitchionary, Volume 1: Knit & Purl -- 250 stitch designs. The Harmony Guide book is a softcover book which I like because it is easier for me to copy the pages if I need to on my copier. Plus this book was only $15.61 from KnitPicks.com.

I am very excited to have this book! My husband had been asking me what I wanted for Christmas, so I finally just made a list of some things I wouldn't mind having - - and this book was on my list! It arrived today. I figured no need for wrapping!!

Now to get the other two books in the collection!

Progress on Taupe Ribbed Baby Jacket

I know I haven't posted anything for a few days, but I have been a little busy with Christmas things. My brother will be flying into Greensboro on Wednesday for the holidays from San Diego, CA and we haven't seen him since May. So, it will be great to spent some time with him and my boys love their Uncle Chip!

This is the first year I have waited to last minute to complete my Christmas shopping for my husband and kids. And after going out this morning, I have to say that these boys aren't getting another thing out of me!!!!! Now on the other hand, my husband hasn't done any shopping from me as of yet or maybe he has fooled me!! It would be a shocker if he has, because he is the most last minute person I have every had to pleasure of meeting!!!!

I have been knitting and the Taupe Ribbed Baby Jacket is coming right along. I want to have it completed my the end of the week.

Well, about 30 minutes ago my OB/GYN office called to give me the results of my 3 hour sugar test I took yesterday. I really didn't want to answer the phone. I have a head cold and I just didn't need any bad news today!

Well . . . I PASSED THE TEST!!!!! That means I won't have to test my blood sugar 4 to 6 times a day and I won't have to restrict everything I eat! I can't believe I passed! I failed this test with both of my other pregnancies. This is proof that each pregnancy is truly different!

I still want to watch what I eat, because I have gained 15 pounds so far and the baby won't come out that big!!!!

I AM SO HAPPY ABOUT THIS NEWS!!!!!

So many projects on the needles!

Many of you that read my blog know I normally only work on one project at a time. But since the time is counting down before the baby comes, figure I need to do as much knitting as I can before he arrives. I only have a little over 14 weeks to go! And my kids like to arrive early for some reason.

I have started a Taupe colored ribbed cardigan for the baby for next fall and the Hawkeye Cadet Hat I found on Ravelry. The hat is for my husband and it is almost completed, but I ran into some problem with creating the brim of the hat. It calls for to wrap and turn (short row) technique that I am not very good at. But I really want to finish this hat, because it will look great on my husband!
The Taupe cardigan was started at the doctor's office yesterday during my 3 hour sugar test. It is coming along great!

Well, I have to go. I have another appointment this morning with son CTB. I will post progress photo as soon as possible. Happy knitting!

This pattern is only written for a baby. I had originally made it for my youngest son CTB, but came out a little small. So, Baby Boykin will get the honor of having yet another hat by mommy!

Ugly Things:
I can't really say anything ugly about the pattern. The next time I make this hat, I will cast on more stitches to fit an adult head!

The Pregnancy Weight Gain and the Sugar Test.

Well, it is the week after Thanksgiving and I had my doctor's appointment yesterday. I was dreading the idea of being weighed! But much to my surprise I had only gained 0.5 pound since last weeks visit! Now keep in mind I celebrated two birthdays, Thanksgiving, and attended by sister-in-law's wedding back to back last week. And you best believe I ate at each occasion! So, as of now I have gained a total of 14.5 pounds. That is a little more than I had gain with my other two pregnancies at this point.

I also had to get my weekly injection to help me with preterm labor. A problem I had with both of my other pregnancies. The doctor really is staying on task with this baby. I know I am having a boy, but she wants to do another ultrasound at 28 weeks to make sure the baby is progressing well. I don't have any doubts and plus it will be nice to see the sweet face that is kicking me so hard!

I also had to take the 1-hour sugar test yesterday to test me for gestational diabetes -- a type of diabetes that occurs only during pregnancy. I had it with both of my other pregnancies and managed it with diet. Well, I got a call this afternoon to tell me that I did not pass the test by 6 points! Only 6 points! The next step is to take the 3-hour test. I will be doing that next week. Oh, what fun . . . sitting in the doctor's office for a whole 3 hours!!!

What a day I've had!

The day started out fairly well. I got up at 6:30 am to get myself and my oldest son ready for school. I dropped him off at 7:30 am, delivered some packages to a friend, dropped a package off at The UPS Store, and stopped to grab a blueberry muffin for breakfast. I had all that done by 8:30 am!

The book fair was at my son's school and I knew he saw a few books that he wanted, so my youngest son and I arrived at the school at 10:30 am. We shopped and was out of there by 11:50 am. Well, this is when the day went BAD!!!!!

I put my purse on the passenger seat and my keys on the driver's seat. While I was doing that my son was climbing into his car seat. I then turned to fasten him in and the driver's side door closes as I am closing the door where my son is. Here's the problem. There was a short in the locking system and the doors all locked when the door closed!!!!

That's right . . . I now had an almost 3 year old fastened in his car seat alone with my keys and purse in the front seat!!!! Luck for me, a wonderful women let me use her cell phone to call my husband who did not answer his phone. Long story short, 3 firefighter drove up to the school with lights flashing on the fire engine and saved my son and his emotional mother at this point! And who drives up as the crisis is over. . . my husband.

I hope I never have another day like this one!! I think I will have a car key made to pin to the inside of my bra. Maybe I will feel better than!!!!

Needles:

US size 9 straight needles

Yardage:
I had left over yarn with all the colors, but I used most of the Taupe, and both Blues. I had almost half or a little more than half left with the other colors. {170 yd per ball}

Modifications:
I decided to do 49, instead of 56 squares.

Enjoyment Factor: 7

Good Things:
The pattern was simple and it came together really well! This was my first time working with Vanna's Choice yarn, and it is not bad for an acrylic yarn. It's soft, comes in beautiful colors, and is machine washable and dryable!!

Bad Things:
SEAMING AND WEAVING IN ENDS!!!! Does anything else have to be said!

Ugly Things:
I am not good at weaving in ends and I am afraid that after washing, the ends will be visible.

Progress on the Garter Stitch Blanket

Here is some of the progress I have made on the Garter Stitch Baby Blanket. I love how the colors are coming together, but I still have a several more rows of squares to attach! After knitting all these squares, I have realized how much I hate seaming and that doesn't count the ends I have to do something with!

I plan to have the blanket completed by this Saturday, so look for the finished piece. Happy Friday!

Well, I only have 6 more squares left to knit for my Garter Stitch Baby Blanket. I have planned to knit 49 squares, but if the blanket is not as long as I would like, I will add 7 more squares, one in each color, for a total of 56. I am very pleased so far!

Here is the next color to be added to the Garter Stitch Blanket. It is Lion Brand Vanna's Choice in Colonial Blue. I was going to use Dusty Blue, but it looked more teal than blue. I think it will work out just fine!

The Knight, The Pirate, and The Puppy?

It was a Happy Halloween here at the Boykin home this year! Being that I'm pregnant and was in no mood to walk around the neighborhood with the kids, my husband took the day off from work to take them trick or treating. My oldest had been asking me all week was it time for candy and the question just kept coming! Of course, it didn't help that he was out of school the day of Halloween due to a teacher's workday. But I was finally able to tell him "YES, it's time for candy"!

My oldest son was dressed as a brave knight .

My youngest son was dressed as a salty pirate. And believe me, he was salty. He did not want to put that costume on, but when we told him he was going to be getting candy, that sad face turned into a big smile!

And you're probable wondering where's the puppy? Here he is! The boy's cousin Darian came over with his mom to go trick or treating with them. Don't they look cute? They stayed out gathering candy for a hour and a half! And those little bags and pumpkin was full of candy when they returned.

We also celebrated one of my sister-in-law's birthday.

So many squares!!!!

Is there an end to these squares? I have completed almost half of the squares and I just purchased the Vanna' s Choice in Silver Blue. I have finished 7 of 12 light blue squares. Making all these squares are a royal pain in the butt, but I know the blanket will be a wonderful gift to my baby in the end. Well, more knitting to do!

Progress on the Garter Stitch Blanket

Here is some of the progress I have made on my Garter Stitch Blanket. I have completed six blocks so far. I only have 45 blocks to go! I started knitting two squares at once last night on my straight needles. It is working out pretty good! Well, I have to go. Much knitting to do.

Plans for a Baby Blanket

Well, I was looking through my baby knitting book last night and thought the baby will need a baby blanket. I crochet both of my other sons a blanket and they are still using them. I came across the Garter Stitch Blanket that looks fairly simple, it just has a lot of squares to knit. This will be my first attempt at knitting a blanket. Another person has knitted the same blanket on Ravelry and it is gorgeous!!

I purchased some Vanna's Choice by Lion Brand Yarns to make the blanket. I only purchased three colors today, Dusty Purple, Linen, and Dusty Green. I will get the other three colors {Taupe, Sliver Blue, and Dusty Blue} later. In total, the blanket will cost me less than $20 to make!

Modifications:

Not many. I used garter stitch for the cuff instead of the K2P2 rib and I didn't do the eyelets for the shoe laces.

Enjoyment Factor: 10

Good Things:

This is a wonderful little pattern and is super easy to knit! These are the second pair I have knitted this month.

Bad Things:

The yarn does split some as you knit with it, so you have to be careful.

Ugly Things:

I can't find anything wrong with the pattern!
